Cupsy is a map of curated coffee spots. This page says what the site does with data, in plain words.
What we do not collect
There are no visitor accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter and no advertising. We do not sell or share personal data with anyone.
Your location
If you tap “Use my location”, your browser asks you for permission and, if you allow it, gives the map your position so it can centre on you and sort cafés by distance. Your position stays in your browser. It is never sent to our servers or stored anywhere.
Cookies
The site sets two small cookies, neither of which identifies you.
- A random device token, so that a vote or a tag you add to a café counts once rather than every time you tap. It is a random string, not linked to a name, an email or an account.
- A flag that remembers you have seen the welcome screen, so it does not show again.
There are no third-party tracking or advertising cookies.
Votes and tags
When you vote on a café or agree with a tag, we store the vote together with the random device token above. That is the only thing the vote is tied to.
Suggestions
When you suggest a café or an edit, we store what you typed: the café name, the city, the reason and any notes. The forms do not ask for your name or email. Please do not put personal details in the notes field.
Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics to count page views and see which pages are used. It does not use cookies and does not build profiles of individual visitors.
Third parties
The live map at cupsy.co/map is built on Google Maps. While that page is open, your browser loads the map from Google, which means Google receives your IP address and the area of the map you are viewing, under Google’s own privacy policy. No other page on Cupsy loads anything from Google. The “Directions” button is an ordinary link to Google Maps that opens only if you tap it.
Site data is stored within the EU.
The “Buy me a cup” button goes to Stripe. Any payment happens on Stripe’s site under Stripe’s terms, and we never see card details.
Curators
People who curate the map sign in with an email address. We keep that address and their assigned countries so they can review cafés. Nothing about visitors is visible to curators beyond anonymous vote counts.
Your rights
Because we hold nothing that identifies a visitor, there is normally nothing to look up or delete. If you believe we hold information about you, or you have any question about this page, write to hello@cupsy.co.
Changes
If the way the site handles data changes, this page changes with it, and the date below is updated.
